Well, I went to the retina specialist and got good news and bad news. The bad news is that I do have a genetic degenerative retina disease. It has caused my great grandpa and my grandpa to go blind and my mom and uncle were/are losing their sight because of it. So needless to say, for the past week I've been a little stressed :).
The good news is that the specialist doesn't think I'll go blind from it or really ever have any problems from it. Praise God! I have a very mild case of it. Oh, there is more bad news that I forgot. My children will have a 50/50 chance of getting the disease too. :(
Thankfully I got to see one of the best retina specialists in the country. He devotes half of his time to his clinic and the other half doing research. I googled him and his bio says he's interested in how nutrition affects our eyes.
They ran about a million tests on me and took blood for genetic testing. I still have to go back next week for one more test.
This was quite the surprise since I didn't think this disease would ever be passed on to me. I went to get new contacts and BAM! I find out I have this disease. They tested my field of vision and mine was perfect and typical cases fail it miserably. I can also see 20/20 with contacts so that's really good too.
So that's pretty much it. I had to leave my baby for 4 hours that day. So sad :(

I am sorry to hear that you got the disease but I am thankful that it's mild. My prayers for you that it stays that way and that Avery does not get it. Chan
