Today Avery and I went to a park near our house. We didn't stay too long because it was pretty warm but she loved it.

This is my chalkboard sticker that I put up in Avery's room. I got it for her when I came to OK for my baby shower.

Goodbye September

Today is a lazy Friday. Avery didn't sleep well last night either. I have eliminated her last nap, given her oatmeal before bed and tried a long sleeve pajama in case she was getting cold. None of it has helped. I just don't know why she won't stay asleep. I was going to try Tylenol in the middle of the night in case her gums were hurting but I didn't. She hasn't really wanted to eat today but seems to be pretty happy.

Yesterday I hung up the cutest little chalk board. I'll have to post a picture of it.

I wish the car hadn't had problems last weekend because I want to do something this weekend. It's General Conference weekend for the LDS around here so maybe places will be a little thinned out.

Well, there's nothing new around here. David's been working late, Avery's going through changes and I'm just along for the ride. We're going to Vegas the weekend of Avery's birthday. Everyone's going to the races but avery and I will be on our own. That's all I know.

Happy Coffee Day :)

Yesterday evening David and I decided to go check out Costco. This is a car that we saw there. I wish it weren't blurry. I can't remember what the top part says but it's about the Book of Mormon. The bottom part says " The Book of Mormon is a 2nd witness along with the Bible that Jesus Christ is the son of God ( I hate my computer, I can't get it to take the italics off), Died for the sins of the world, something something, Creator, Redeemer, and Savior of this world." The top part said something about Jesus being in the Americas.

This person is very bold with their faith :)

So, in an effort to de-chemicalize my house. I made my own laundry detergent. I've been cleaning with essential oils but now I'm out so I'm using an all natural cleaner until I get more oils. I like that I made my own detergent but I used a bar soap that I don't really like the smell of. So I think the next time I'll try a different soap. I made powdered detergent instead of liquid because I can make leses in one batch. It only takes a tablespoon to clean the laundry but I use two :) I haven't done the math but other people have and supposedly I'm saving a ton of moolah by making it but I just wanted to cut down the chemicals. I do miss the smell of store bought detergent. I could make my own softener but well, I want my clothes to smell good and the detergent I made doesn't leave much of a smell at all. Baby steps here :)

I need to get Avery's weight. I bet she weighs a ton. She sure is heavy. She was up every hour last night and David was pretty frustrated. So, I laid on her floor all night and googled sleep training on my phone. That way I could get to her faster so David could sleep since he has to work and I don't. I now alot of mom's feel that the dad should help with night time wakings but I feel like David works and should get his sleep. I can nap during the day, he can't :)

Well, I've been excitedly waiting for the people below us to move out. I found out today that they are planning on staying an extra month or two. That's a major bummer. The girl is not friendly at all. At all. The guy seems nice, he smiles at us but she gives out the most forced half smile, I don't like you smile that I've ever seen. I'm guessing she's not thrilled with us living here :) I was really nice the last time she griped at us for "pounding" above her bedroom in the morning while they were "still waking up". David said I was too nice. I've never been told that before lol. By the way, the pounding was Avery crawling. So now we walk on egg shells on the weekend mornings. I could really get into my anger about this but there's nothing I can do so I'm trying to deal with it and not let it get to me.

It's National Coffee Day! I've had my hazelnut already. Mmm.

Lazy Day

I was going through the boxes in her closet and found these winter items. Last year they were too big and I'm afraid by the time it's really cold enough her head will be too big for this hat. It's pretty snug already.
Mom, I'm so tired. I need a nap.
Not liking the mittens too much!

11 Months Old!!!

My baby is 11 months old!!! I can't believe she's almost a toddler! She's so big I can't get over it. She's only been up for a little less than an hour and she's sat in hr room and looked at books, made about 500 laps around the house with her car/push toy thing. Which she can now turn :) She just stopped to play with some blocks but is now back and at it walking around with her push toy and jabbering away. She has alot to say this morning. She thinks she's pretty funny too. She is :0)

Last night I filled her up on oatmeal cereal to see if something heavy in her belly would help her sleep. Well, it did help in that she slept 4 hours before she woke the first time. But then she was up an hour later and then about 3 or 4 times after that. *sigh* I was really hoping she'd grow out of this when she started waking up. Well that was 7 months ago. David and I are at a place now where we feel like we just need to let her cry. But having people living in your basement puts you in a bad position. Everyone says do what you need to do, yadda yadda, but it's easier said than done when you're not the one getting the text messages that you're being too loud. I think I've trained Avery to get up and of course she wants to eat when I go in there. :( Lesson learned.

It's a good thing she's so dang cute. She loves kids. Every night we go for a walk. Yesterday we passed a bunch of kids playing and Avery was just mesmerized by them. She kept watching them as we passed and smiling and giggling. I love my neighborhood. It's so cute and every evening parents are out walking with their kids...or dogs. Kids are running around. The evenings are PERFECT!!! I really like where we live. I have the best of both worlds. It's great.

Avery has turned into a huge fake crier. She cries alot now. *sigh* For every upside, there must be a downside :) Whatever phase she is is, I hope it's over soon. That's why we take really long walks in the evening :)

Not so Interesting

I didn't think I'd ever say this but IlikeUtah. That was me saying it really fast. However, I don't like the girl who lives below us. She doesn't like us either and she is about the most unfriendly person ever. Ever. I can't wait until the end of October because that's when they're moving out.

Our stupid car started leaking coolant again. We spent most of the day on Saturday at the dealership. They like to take our money. :( The maunfacturer of course stopped making the hose we need so they had to rig up something else. Why would you stop making a part when the car is still available?!

This new screeching thing Avery does makes my blood boil. I can't stand it. She's going through something right now I guess. She's turning into a crybaby :) She's teething and I've eliminated her late afternoon nap in hopes that she'll sleep better at night. So evenings are rough unless we're constantly doing something or outside. She loves to be outside.

I uploaded a video of her eating. That's right, a whole 3 minutes or so of her eating a snack. Enjoy. I know it's exciting.

She spends the majority of her day making laps around the house with her little walker thingy. She's doing alot better at keeping up with it on these wood floors. She'll also walk while holding your hands now. For a long time she wouldn't.

We've been tempted to move out of our house but David said last night he wants to stay. I'm a little nervous about a whole year of living above someone else. Big mistake that was. Figures.

Well, lack of sleep or something has me feeling like complaining so I'll stop here :)Oh, I did get Avery 1 year birthday pictures scheduled and I'm super excited about that! They'll be outside, weather permitting! Yay!

Pictures

Well, I know it's cheesy but I have few pictures of me so I took one :)

Me andmy girl. I love her so much. She's been showing a side of her personality lately though that has been a little challenging. She's making screeching noises when she's frustrated/mad that make me want to freak out. Like nails on a chalkboard to me.

Look at this crazy outfit she's wearing!

This is the Great Salt Lake. It smells like butt or something. Supposedly there's tiny shrimp in there that die and that's why it smells. Well, that's what David tells me and I don't know where he came up with that. It smells horrendous though.

Avery was running off with our friend's stroller the other day at the park.

Here's a bald eagle that was at the Tracy Aviary at Liberty Park.

The Low Down

Well, I went to the retina specialist and got good news and bad news. The bad news is that I do have a genetic degenerative retina disease. It has caused my great grandpa and my grandpa to go blind and my mom and uncle were/are losing their sight because of it. So needless to say, for the past week I've been a little stressed :).

The good news is that the specialist doesn't think I'll go blind from it or really ever have any problems from it. Praise God! I have a very mild case of it. Oh, there is more bad news that I forgot. My children will have a 50/50 chance of getting the disease too. :(

Thankfully I got to see one of the best retina specialists in the country. He devotes half of his time to his clinic and the other half doing research. I googled him and his bio says he's interested in how nutrition affects our eyes.

They ran about a million tests on me and took blood for genetic testing. I still have to go back next week for one more test.

This was quite the surprise since I didn't think this disease would ever be passed on to me. I went to get new contacts and BAM! I find out I have this disease. They tested my field of vision and mine was perfect and typical cases fail it miserably. I can also see 20/20 with contacts so that's really good too.

So that's pretty much it. I had to leave my baby for 4 hours that day. So sad :(

Eye News

Tomorrow I have to go see a retina specialist. Last week I got some not good news that I have a variant of an eye disease that runs in my family. I've been trying not to worry about the long term but that's easier said than done. I have been very proud of myself that I have not googled it so I won't freak myself out more :) I'm praying the specialist tells me encouraging news tomorrow.

Avery is still stinkin' cute. She coughs when she hears someone else cough. She takes the remote control and points it to the TV like she trying to change channels. She fake cries a lot now. It's funny, except for when I'm so tired...then it's just annoying.

Well, she's up from her 40 minute or less nap. :(

Liberty Park

Today Avery and I went to Liberty Park with our friends. We walked through Tracy Aviary and that was pretty neat. Of course Avery didn't really care about the birds but she liked being outside and in her stroller.

Liberty Park is big. It's a mile and a half to walk around it and 80 acres. I think there's even some Mormon president's house on it. I believe he donated the land to the city. It's got a lot of trees and grassy area. It also has a lot of amenities.

When we came home, Avery didn't want to come inside.

I want to go back up Millcreek Canyon. I've heard that the LDS church has a vault hidden in the mountain. I want to find it! Some say that the golden plates are in there. I just think it's strange that the church has stuff hidden in a mountain...if it's true.

Well, I am sooooooo tired from lack of sleep at night so I think I'm gonna go rest until my dinner is ready. Hopefully Avery doesn't wake up...

Another Short One

I posted another video. It's super short. It's Avery saying baby.

Very Short Video

I got a small clip of Avery yesterday on our hike. She was laughing and making happy noises the whole time!

I am sooooooo tired. Avery's sleeping habits are getting worse and worse!! This has been going on since she turned 4 months old. She usually wakes every 1.5 to 2 hours, 3 if I'm lucky. She takes short naps during the day and sleeps horrible at night. It seems like she's getting worse. I think alot of it is my own fault. Now, I'm getting to the point where I'm ready to just let her cry but I don't want to bother the people downstairs. Ugh, stuck in a bad spot. It doesn't matter how much she sleeps during the day either. She needs to learn to go back to sleep. I just wish I knew why she wakes up so often. WHY?!?!?

I hate my bed too. I hate that we spent a lot of money on it, thinking we were getting a good bed and it's horrible. This morning I'm so tired but the bed is hurting my neck so I had to get up.

I keep thinking she'll grow out of it but it's been 6 months and it's getting worse. I might lose my mind.

What's a mom to do hahaha?

Crazy Days

Here's a picture of the house we live in. I love that 2 front windows because they wrap around the side of the house.

Avery now says bye-bye, baby and thank you. I know it sounds insane that she would say thank you but I swear she does! I heard her say it but thought to myself that it was just her babbling sounding like she said thank you but then she said it again to David. We looked at each other like "did you hear that?!?"

I haven't been in the mood to blog lately. Things have been crazy it seems in every aspect of life. I'm hoping it will all calm down soon.

Today we took Avery on her first hike. She absolutely LOVED it. I'm going to post the pictures on facebook.

A Little Drive

We went for a drive tonight and realized that Park City is alot closer to us than we had thought so this is some of Park City:

This is from a little town called Summit Park up in the mountains.

Looks like Fall is coming!!!
Crazy girl! She has done 2 things this week that I thought were neat and just shows how she's learning even when you're not "teaching" her. She picked up a pen and went over to an open notebook I had on the table and tried to write on it. Then one day she was playing with some of David's glasses for work and she tried to put them on her face. I LOVE IT!
She's such an awesome kid!

This is Alta ski resort. When David worked at his old work, they built signs like the one on this building for Alta. It's kind of hard to see.

I think this is Alta too. It might be Snowbird but I'm pretty sure it's Alta. These two ski resorts are right next to each other and are blending together in my memory. I want to go to Snowbird because they have a tram and a zip line and a huge sled/slide thing.

This is Little Cottonwood Canyon, where Alta and Snowbird are located. The canyons in Salt Lake are much better than the ones in Logan. Ok, maybe just bigger mountains, it's a different beauty. I still think Sardine Canyon is beautiful.

Someone got into the vaseline :) Thankfully it wasn't a big mess, just on her hands and face.

So David and I are REALLY enjoying living in the Sugar House area. There's a huge Sugar House park right by our house and there are ducks you can feed. There's sa shopping district and I'm loving it! We are also right next to I-80 which is awesome because we can jump on the highway without driving through alot of town and be anywhere!

This last weekend we went up Big Cottonwood canyon (I forgot my camera, so we need to go back) and went to Silver Lake. Big Cottonwood is AWESOME! David was drooling over all of the rocks. He wanted to go rockclimbing so bad! We drove by Solitude ski resort on the way to the lake and it was really nice. It must be newer. We saw a moose at the lake. It was a baby so we figured it's mom was around so we didn't stick around to oooh and ahhh.

The new job is going really well. A much better experience than the last place.

I'm really thankful that we're both liking Salt Lake. We always thought we wouldn't like it. I think it's the area we're in though. I can't even express how excited I am to be in the city again!!! I do miss Hyrum though.

I think Avery is feeling at home now. The first few days were rough but Avery is back to her happy self. She's awesome. Her personality is coming out more and more. She's reaching the age of tantrums. Well, she doesn't really throw tantrums but she definitely acts out more when she gets mad or frustrated. I can't believe she'll be ONE next month!! One!!!!

We love that girl so much!

A Few Pictures.

She was loving this cup. By the way, Avery does not drink Big Gulps :)

Enjoying some graham crackers.

Avery's first ride in a Uhaul truck.

New Video

I posted a video of Avery playing with her stackable rings. She hasn't been cooperating when I try to get video of her saying "bye bye". Now she says "baby" too.

No internet

We don't have our internet yet so no posting until then. I'm on my phone now. So far we're liking salt lake. I'm loving being in the city and have loved the canyons we've been in so far. They're better than the canyons in cache valley :)

I can't wait to go shopping!

Avery says "bye bye" and waves now. Sooo cute!

David is liking his new job and is happy to be working for a good company.

September 2, 2011

This move is proving to be quite stressful. It's almost over though. Then I get to start all over trying to get David and I in school.

Avery's been wowing her daddy the last few days by showing him her new tricks. The other night I was holding her by the light switch, so David could see how she can turn the light on and off. She would do it and we act like it was so awesome and she thought it was THE BEST thing ever! She would flip the switch and look at us and just crack up and kick her legs and just get so excited.

When you walk through a door way she pushes the door open. I don't know why it's cute but it is :)

And she has discovered she can flush the toilet. So we I let her show her dad that she can do it. Normally I'm good about keeping her away from the toilet but one day while my hands were tied up she got to it and flushed it. While David and I were watching her she started acting bashful and started acting silly about flushing it but she finally did.

She's getting more active during bath time and now crawls around the tub and even stood up the other day.

I love seeing her personality come out. I love how she laughs when we laugh. I love it when she gives kisses. One day she kept hitting David in the face (she only does it to him) and he was getting on to her for it. Each time he'd get onto her for it, she'd kiss him. It was sooooo cute. It melted her daddy's heart :)

Gosh, I love that girl. She's sooooooo much fun!!! I'm excited it's September!!! Fall is right around the corner!!
